The Sixth China International Chorus Festival China International Chorus Festival

The Sixth China International Chorus Festival was recently held in Beijing. Organized by the Ministry of Culture, the festival was aimed at prompting cultural exchanges and friendship between the people from both within the country and abroad. The six－day event brought together nine international choruses, six from Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao and 45 singing groups from China’s mainland. Center Stage will be presenting its opening ceremony.

The ceremony starts with the theme song of the festival “Song of Peace and Friendship”. After that was a group of girl students from the Belgrade Conservation of Music, Yugoslavia. The singers sing a folk song from their country.

The Hong Kong Children’s Choir has a history of more than 30 years. Over 4,000 children in Hong Kong have received musical education from this non－profit organization. The choir actively participates in many international singing events.

A group of young students from China’s Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region are going to sing a song, which is about the famous “Nadam Fair”. Nadam Fair is an annual event in which Mongolian people gather to play traditional sports and engage in other entertainment activities.

The Japanese “Sunrise” chorus was founded in 1985, with an aim of promoting cultural exchange with Chinese musicians. The chorus has been invited many times to perform in China.

A group of elderly people from Beijing drew lot of attention during the event. This chorus was founded by the alumni of two renowned Beijing high schools that both enjoy a good reputation for musical education. In recent years, the chorus has successfully held concerts in China and has been invited to perform overseas.
