Rochester Oratorio Society

Since its first performance in December 1945, the Rochester Oratorio Society ( ROS) has become Rochester’s premiere large concert chorus. While the majority of its programs feature the masterworks of the choral-orchestral repertoire, the ROS strives to perform and premier contemporary works as well. The ROS is a strong proponent of fostering collaborations not only within the field of choral music, but also across artistic disciplines.

The ROS has performed in England, Scotland, France, Austria, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland in recent years.

The Society’s most recent performances with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra include Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Mozart’s Requiem, and Handel’s Messiah.

The Rochester Oratorio Society is a member of Chrous America, the Greater Rochester Choral Consortium and the Arts and Cultural Council for Greater Rochester.
